Climate
Greenland has a subarctic climate, with long, cold winters and short, cool summers. The average temperature in the winter is around -20°C (-4°F), while in the summer it's around 5°C (41°F). The coastal areas are generally milder than the inland regions, and the south coast has the warmest temperatures. The east coast is the windiest and coldest part of the country. Precipitation is relatively low, with most of it falling as snow in the winter.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Greenland depends on what you want to do and see. The summer months of June to August are the warmest and offer the longest days, making it the best time for activities such as hiking, kayaking, and wildlife watching. This is also the time when the ice cap starts to melt and the fjords become navigable, making it the best time for boat tours.
The winter months of December to February are the best time for activities such as dog sledding, skiing and ice climbing. The Northern Lights can also be seen during this time of the year.
If you're interested in both summer and winter activities, the shoulder seasons of May and September can be a good option as well.
